What is the Sri Lanka Online Study Expo?

The Sri Lanka Online Study Expo is a free virtual university fair held from 28 to 31 October 2027 as part of the World Study Expo online programme. Students across Sri Lanka can join live sessions and book one-to-one video meetings with international admissions representatives.

Sri Lanka produces far more qualified university applicants than its state system has places for. The result is a large pool of academically strong students actively looking abroad, many of them studying British curricula and therefore already holding qualifications international universities recognise directly.

Cost is the counterweight. Economic conditions have made affordability and currency a central part of the conversation, and scholarships, phased payments and lower-cost destinations carry more weight here than in most markets in the programme.

Sri Lanka rewards institutions that are explicit and realistic about funding. A clearly explained partial scholarship will beat a vaguely implied full one every time, because families here are planning carefully and cannot act on ambiguity.

Top-up degrees and final-year entry routes are particularly valuable, since they reduce both cost and time abroad while still delivering an international qualification.

Is the Sri Lanka Online Study Expo free?

Yes. Registration and attendance are free for students and parents.

When does it take place?

Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 October 2027. Thursday and Friday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Sri Lanka local time.

I did not get a state university place. Is studying abroad realistic?

For many students yes, particularly with scholarships or lower-cost destinations. This is exactly the situation the event is useful for, and it is worth asking institutions directly what is achievable on your results and budget.

Will my Cambridge or Edexcel A-Levels be accepted?

Generally yes, and directly. Ask each university what grades they require for your intended course and whether any subject prerequisites apply.

Which destinations are most affordable?

Malaysia, India and parts of Eastern Europe typically offer lower total costs, and some UK and Australian institutions have meaningful scholarships. Compare total cost including living expenses, not tuition alone.

What is a top-up degree?

A route where you complete part of a degree locally and the final year overseas, receiving the international qualification. It reduces both cost and time abroad, and several institutions offer it.

Can I ask about phased payment?
