Middle East Study Expo for universities

Recruit Gulf students where the decision is actually made: face to face across three UAE cities in September, then online in six countries in October. Every student you meet registered with a study level, a subject and an intake, and chose to book you.

What is the Middle East Study Expo for universities?

The Middle East Study Expo is World Study Expo's Gulf programme for recruiting institutions: three in-person exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai on 22–26 September 2027, followed by online editions for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain on 7–10 October 2027. Universities exhibit in one city, one country or across the whole region, and meet students who booked appointments after stating their subject, level and intended intake.

Why the Gulf rewards precision

No other region in the programme concentrates so many internationally mobile, adequately funded students in so few cities. That is the attraction. The difficulty is that the same cities also concentrate every competing recruiter, and a generic stand in a busy hall meets a great many people who were never going to apply. The Middle East Study Expo is built to separate the two.

Students register before the doors open. They state a study level, a subject and an intake, they shortlist institutions, and they book one-to-one slots. By the time your team arrives in Abu Dhabi, you know who has asked to see you, what they want to study and when they intend to start. The online week that follows lets you reach the Saudi, Qatari, Omani, Kuwaiti and Bahraini students who could not travel to the UAE, and to follow up the ones you met.

Two touchpoints, one campaign

The sequence is deliberate. September is for judgement: meeting the student and, very often, the parent or sponsor who will fund the decision. October is for reach and follow-up: the conversation continues by video across six countries without another flight, and the profile you built in September keeps working.

Who you meet

Students who are funded, decided and short of time

The Gulf applicant is rarely browsing. The question is whether they can consider you at all, and the profile answers it before the meeting.

In the UAE you meet Grade 11 and 12 students from British, American, IB and Indian-curriculum schools, most of them in expatriate families who will leave the country for university and are comparing destinations rather than institutions. You also meet Emirati students with scholarship support and a shortlist shaped by recognition rules. Both groups attend with a parent, and the weekend Dubai dates exist so they can.

Online, the audience widens. Saudi Arabia brings the largest young population in the region and a strong scholarship culture; Kuwait and Qatar bring sponsored students whose institutions must appear on approved lists; Oman brings families for whom total cost decides; Bahrain brings a finance-and-health-sciences skew. What they share is that funding is usually settled before the conversation starts, so the meeting is about fit, recognition and outcomes rather than price.

Because every attendee registered with level, subject and intake, you can accept the appointments that match your provision and decline the ones that do not. A postgraduate engineering department does not spend its Saturday explaining foundation years.

What every student profile carries

  • Study level: school leaver, undergraduate, postgraduate or MBA
  • Subject area and, where the student knows it, the programme
  • Intended intake and year of entry
  • Destination countries under consideration
  • Which institutions they shortlisted, and whether they shortlisted you
  • Everything else on the profile the student chose to share with you

Study areas in demand

  • Engineering
  • Medicine and health sciences
  • Business and finance
  • Computing and data science
  • Architecture and design
  • Law
  • Foundation and pathway routes
  • MBA
Benefits of World Study Expo

Physical and online, and why most Gulf recruiters use both

The UAE exhibitions and the Middle East online week do different jobs. Together they cover the region once, thoroughly, in a single autumn.

Benefits of the physical expo

  • Judge fit in person: a fifteen-minute conversation settles questions a brochure never will
  • Parents and sponsors come along, so budget and destination get decided in the same meeting
  • School groups arrive with a counsellor and a subject route, not at random
  • Presentation slots with open question time, scheduled rather than shouted over a hall
  • Document checks on the day: transcripts, predicted grades and recognition questions settled face to face
  • The Dubai weekend flagship exists so families attend together
  • Every student met in September can be followed up in the online editions in October without another flight

Benefits of the online expo

  • Reach cities no recruitment trip covers, at no extra cost per city
  • Pre-booked one-to-one video appointments against the availability you publish
  • Sessions scheduled in the local time of each market, so students attend at reasonable hours
  • Lower cost per market, and countries selected individually rather than as a package
  • Live group presentations, with recordings offered to registered students where you permit it
  • Every interaction reported: views, downloads, wishlists, bookings and enquiries
  • No stand build, no shipping, no visas for your team

Institutions testing the region for the first time usually start with the online week, then add the UAE exhibitions once demand is proven. Established recruiters take both and treat October as the follow-up to September.

What you take home

Leads with stated intent, not a scanned badge list

The profile does the filtering

Your listing carries programmes, entry requirements, tuition, scholarships and, importantly for the Gulf, your accreditation and recognition documents. Sponsored students check recognition before they book, so the appointments you receive are from students who already know you qualify.

Appointments, then evidence

At the stand, pre-booked slots mean your admissions staff spend the day making decisions rather than handing out brochures. Online, the same slots run by video. After each edition you receive a report of every appointment, enquiry, download and wishlist for the students who chose to share them, which is what your follow-up team actually needs.

What we do not do

We do not hand over the details of everyone who registered. A student who did not book you, enquire, download or shortlist has not consented to hear from you, and we would rather you met fewer students who want to talk than more who do not.

How participation works

  1. Request information

Tell us the markets and study levels you recruit for. We send the brochure, the formats that fit and pricing for that combination.

  2. Confirm your selection

A written agreement covering fees, formats, deliverables and cancellation. Institutions confirmed early appear in more student wishlists.

  3. Build your profile

Programmes rather than an institutional overview: entry requirements, tuition, scholarships, recognition documents, brochures and video.

  4. Publish availability

Students book one-to-one slots against the times your team can cover, physically or by video.

  5. Meet students

Pre-booked appointments at the stand or on screen, plus scheduled presentations with open question time.

  6. Follow up with data

An engagement report after each edition: appointments, enquiries, downloads and wishlists, for the students who chose to share them.

Participation options

Choose the footprint that matches your Gulf plan

Three common patterns. Each can be narrowed to a single city or country.

UAE exhibitions, in person

A stand at Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai or all three, with pre-booked appointments, a presentation slot subject to scheduling, and your full online profile live before the doors open.

Middle East online week

Any or all of the six countries on 7–10 October. Video appointments in local time, live group sessions, and the engagement report afterwards. No travel.

The Gulf campaign, both

September in person, October online: meet families face to face, then extend into Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain and follow up every UAE conversation without a second trip.

Pricing is supplied on request rather than published, because the combinations of city, country and format vary too widely for one figure to be useful. Ask for the combination you are actually considering.

What happens after you send this

We reply with the exhibitor brochure, the formats that fit the editions you selected, the dates still available and pricing for that combination. A short call follows to work through timing, staffing and fit. Nothing is confirmed until you sign a written agreement.

If you are deciding between a single city and the full UAE week, or between the UAE and the online editions, say so in the message and we will set out the trade-offs honestly.

Questions

Exhibiting in the Middle East: your questions

Which editions make up the Middle East Study Expo?

Three in-person exhibitions in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi on 22 September, Sharjah on 23 September and Dubai on 25 and 26 September 2027, followed by online editions for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain on 7 to 10 October 2027.

Can we exhibit in Dubai only?

Yes. Cities and countries are selected individually. A single city, the full UAE week, one online country, the full online week or any combination can be booked.

Can students see our accreditation before they book?

Yes. Your profile carries recognition and accreditation documents, and sponsored students in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi routinely check them before booking an appointment. It is the single most useful thing to upload early.

Do parents attend the UAE exhibitions?

Almost always, and often a sponsor as well. Meetings are frequently three-way, which is why the Dubai weekend dates exist. Material that answers a parent's questions about cost, accommodation, safety and pastoral support performs noticeably better.

Who should we send to the stand?

An admissions representative who can make a judgement on the spot. Students arrive with documents and specific questions, and a decision-maker converts a fifteen-minute appointment into an application far more often than a brochure does. Arabic is not required for the student conversation.

When do we need to confirm for the UAE week?

Before students begin shortlisting for the September editions. Institutions confirmed early appear in more wishlists and receive more appointment bookings, and physical stand space is finite.

Can the online week be used to follow up students met in the UAE?

That is exactly what it is for. Students who met you in September can book a second appointment by video in October, and students in the five other countries who could not travel meet you for the first time.

How is this page different from the Middle East student pages?

This page covers participation: formats, schedule, what you receive and how to book. The location pages under Online Expo carry the attendance information for students and parents.
