What is the India Study Expo for universities?

The India Study Expo is World Study Expo's recruitment programme for India: two online weeks, South India on 14–17 October 2027 and North, West and East India on 21–24 October 2027, together covering twenty cities. Universities take one week or both, publish programmes and appointment availability, and meet students by video in slots the students booked after stating their subject, level and intended intake.

Scale is not the problem. Selection is.

India produces more prospective international students than any market in the programme, and recruiters know it. The difficulty has never been finding Indian applicants; it is finding the ones with the grades, the funding and the intent to enrol at your institution specifically, and doing so without spending three weeks on the road visiting the same six metros as everyone else.

The India Study Expo replaces the road trip with a registered, profiled audience across twenty cities, met by video in slots the students booked. A family in Coimbatore or Indore gets the same fifteen minutes with your admissions team as a family in Mumbai, and your team gets a report afterwards of who booked, who enquired and who shortlisted you.

Two weeks because they are two markets

South India skews postgraduate, technical and healthcare. The northern, western and eastern markets skew undergraduate, with parents in the room and commerce, management and Canada or Australia on their minds. Running them as separate weeks lets you bring the right material and the right staff to each, and take only the week that fits if that is what your provision needs.

Who you meet

Applicants who have done the reading, and parents who hold the budget

Indian students arrive prepared. The profile tells you which kind of prepared, so the right colleague takes the appointment.

From the South India week expect postgraduate applicants in computing, engineering, data science and life sciences who have already read your department pages and want to talk about specialisation, supervisors, assistantships and graduate outcomes. Alongside them sits a distinct nursing and allied-health pipeline from Kerala and coastal Karnataka, and a growing undergraduate audience in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad from CBSE, ICSE and state-board schools.

From the North, West and East India week expect undergraduate applicants with a parent in the meeting, questions about entry requirements against their board, total cost and what happens after graduation, plus commerce and management demand from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Surat and MBA candidates with work experience from Delhi NCR and Mumbai. The Chandigarh and Punjab belt brings families with a strong Canada and Australia orientation who need a reason to look elsewhere.

Much of this demand is financed through education loans secured against family property, which is why accurate total-cost figures and honest employment data on your profile convert better than ranking claims. Students book you because your programme entry answered their question; your appointment then confirms it.

What every student profile carries

  • Study level: school leaver, undergraduate, postgraduate or MBA
  • Subject area and, where the student knows it, the programme
  • Intended intake and year of entry
  • Destination countries under consideration
  • Which institutions they shortlisted, and whether they shortlisted you
  • Everything else on the profile the student chose to share with you

Benefits of World Study Expo

Online first, and the UAE exhibitions if you want a face-to-face leg

India is served online because that is the only format that reaches twenty cities in two weeks. Institutions that also want in-person contact add the UAE exhibitions in September, where a large Indian-curriculum school population attends.

Benefits of the physical expo

  • Judge fit in person: a fifteen-minute conversation settles questions a brochure never will
  • Parents and sponsors come along, so budget and destination get decided in the same meeting
  • School groups arrive with a counsellor and a subject route, not at random
  • Presentation slots with open question time, scheduled rather than shouted over a hall
  • Document checks on the day: transcripts, predicted grades and recognition questions settled face to face
  • The Dubai weekend flagship exists so families attend together
  • Every student met in September can be followed up in the online editions in October without another flight

Benefits of the online expo

  • Reach cities no recruitment trip covers, at no extra cost per city
  • Pre-booked one-to-one video appointments against the availability you publish
  • Sessions scheduled in the local time of each market, so students attend at reasonable hours
  • Lower cost per market, and countries selected individually rather than as a package
  • Live group presentations, with recordings offered to registered students where you permit it
  • Every interaction reported: views, downloads, wishlists, bookings and enquiries
  • No stand build, no shipping, no visas for your team

The two India weeks follow the Middle East week and precede the Asia week, so a single October campaign can cover all three regions from one team calendar without overlapping sessions.

Schedule

Two weeks, twenty cities, Indian Standard Time

Thursday and Friday evening sessions suit students after school or work; Saturday and Sunday daytime sessions suit families. Indian Standard Time is UTC+5:30, which places every session inside the working day for teams in Europe and the UK.

What you take home

Leads with stated intent, not a scanned badge list

A programme entry, not an institutional blurb

Indian applicants search by course. Your profile lists programmes with entry requirements stated against Indian boards and degrees, tuition, scholarships with their actual conditions, and post-study work information for your country. Precision here is what earns the booking.

Appointments your colleagues can cover

Because the profile carries level and subject, a computing department can take the South India appointments that belong to it while an undergraduate recruiter covers the northern week. Sessions fall in the European working day, so no one is on a call at midnight.

Afterwards

You receive a report of every appointment, enquiry, download and wishlist for the students who chose to share them, across both weeks, in a form your admissions and follow-up teams can act on. Nothing about students who did not engage with you is passed on.

How participation works

  1. Request information

Tell us the markets and study levels you recruit for. We send the brochure, the formats that fit and pricing for that combination.

  2. Confirm your selection

A written agreement covering fees, formats, deliverables and cancellation. Institutions confirmed early appear in more student wishlists.

  3. Build your profile

Programmes rather than an institutional overview: entry requirements, tuition, scholarships, recognition documents, brochures and video.

  4. Publish availability

Students book one-to-one slots against the times your team can cover, physically or by video.

  5. Meet students

Pre-booked appointments at the stand or on screen, plus scheduled presentations with open question time.

  6. Follow up with data

An engagement report after each edition: appointments, enquiries, downloads and wishlists, for the students who chose to share them.

Participation options

One week, both weeks, or India inside a wider campaign

Match the week to your study levels. Most institutions recruiting broadly take both.

South India week

Ten southern cities on 14–17 October, weighted to postgraduate, technical and health sciences demand. Best staffed by subject specialists who can answer departmental questions.

North, West and East India week

Ten cities on 21–24 October, weighted to undergraduate demand with parents present, plus commerce, management and MBA applicants. Best staffed by admissions staff comfortable talking about cost and outcomes.

Both India weeks

The full national audience across twenty cities, with your profile live for the whole fortnight and one engagement report covering both weeks. Combine with the Gulf and Asia weeks for a single October campaign.

Pricing is supplied on request rather than published, because the combinations of city, country and format vary too widely for one figure to be useful. Ask for the combination you are actually considering.

What happens after you send this

We reply with the exhibitor brochure, the week or weeks that fit your study levels, the availability that remains and pricing for that selection. A short call follows to work through staffing across the two weeks and how your programme entries should be written for Indian applicants.

Tell us which study levels and subjects you recruit for; it changes the recommendation more than anything else.

Questions

Exhibiting in India: your questions

Which India week should our institution take?

Take South India on 14–17 October if your strength is postgraduate, technical or health sciences provision, and North, West and East India on 21–24 October if you recruit undergraduates, commerce and management students or MBA candidates. Institutions recruiting across levels take both.

Are the appointments held in Indian time?

Yes. Sessions run Thursday and Friday 4–10 PM and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM–7 PM Indian Standard Time, which is UTC+5:30 and falls inside the working day for teams in Europe and the UK.

How do we reach students outside the big metros?

The twenty cities span both regional weeks and students join from anywhere in the country. A profile live for a week is seen by applicants in Hubli, Vizag, Indore and Surat who no recruitment trip visits.

What do Indian applicants expect to see on our profile?

Programme-level entry requirements stated against Indian boards and degrees, an accurate total cost, scholarships with their real conditions, and the current post-study work position for your country. Vague figures cost bookings.

Can we run a subject-specific presentation?

Yes. Live group sessions with open question time are scheduled within each week, and a departmental session, for example a computing or nursing talk during the South India week, is often the most productive use of a slot.

How many staff does an online week need?

One representative per concurrent appointment stream. Most institutions run one or two streams and add a colleague for the group session. Because the profile carries level and subject, appointments can be routed to the right department in advance.

Are group sessions recorded?

Where you permit it, group session recordings are offered to registered students afterwards, which extends the reach of a single talk across the week. One-to-one appointments are never recorded.

Can India be combined with the Gulf and Asia weeks?

Yes, and the calendar is built for it: the Middle East week runs 7–10 October, the two India weeks 14–24 October and the Asia week 28–31 October, so one team can cover all three regions in sequence.
