What is the Asia Study Expo for universities?

The Asia Study Expo is World Study Expo's South and Southeast Asia programme for recruiting institutions: online editions for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives on 28–31 October 2027. Universities select any of the eight countries or the full week, publish programmes and availability, and meet students by video in appointments the students booked after stating their subject, level and intended intake.

Eight markets that have almost nothing in common

A Singaporean A-level student justifying a move away from an excellent local system, a Malaysian diploma holder counting transferable credits, a Filipino nursing graduate planning professional registration abroad and a Maldivian scholarship applicant who has never met a university representative are not one audience. Treating them as one, with a single regional campaign, is how recruiters end up with a full inbox and an empty intake.

The Asia Study Expo runs the eight countries as eight editions inside one week. You select the markets where your provision actually fits, your profile appears only there, and the students who book you are the ones whose stated subject and level match what you offer. Each edition runs in its own local time, so a session that suits Jakarta also suits Manila and Colombo.

The last week of the programme, by design

The Asia week closes the October calendar, after the Middle East and the two India weeks. Institutions running a multi-region campaign reach it with their profile mature, their team practised and their engagement data from earlier weeks already in hand.

Who you meet

Different gatekeepers in every market, visible on the profile before you meet

What stops a student proceeding differs by country. The registration data tells you which conversation you are walking into.

Singapore sends academically strong A-level and IB students, and postgraduate applicants looking for a specialism the local system does not offer. Malaysia sends diploma and foundation holders whose decision turns on how much prior study you recognise, plus a market that understands twinning and top-up routes better than anywhere else in the region. Thailand sends students who need a credible English pathway before anything else, with hospitality and business demand concentrated in Bangkok.

Indonesia sends volume from Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Medan, with funding and destination choice leading the conversation and Australia as the default you are compared against. The Philippines sends nursing and allied-health applicants who are planning a career abroad, not just a degree. Bangladesh sends large, price-sensitive demand from Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet with scholarship, English-requirement and work-rights questions asked early. Sri Lanka sends strong A-level candidates on constrained budgets who ask about top-up entry and payment plans, and the Maldives sends scholarship-approved students for whom online is the only practical way to meet you.

Every one of them registered with a level, a subject and an intake. You accept the appointments that fit, and your Malaysian credit-transfer conversation never gets mixed up with your Filipino registration one.

What every student profile carries

  • Study level: school leaver, undergraduate, postgraduate or MBA
  • Subject area and, where the student knows it, the programme
  • Intended intake and year of entry
  • Destination countries under consideration
  • Which institutions they shortlisted, and whether they shortlisted you
  • Everything else on the profile the student chose to share with you

Study areas in demand

  • Business and management
  • Computing
  • Engineering
  • Nursing and allied health
  • Hospitality and tourism
  • Foundation and pathway programmes
  • Top-up degrees
  • Postgraduate specialisms
Benefits of World Study Expo

Online is not the fallback here. It is the only format that works across eight countries

No recruiter can be in Singapore, Dhaka and Malé in the same week. The online format is what makes the Asia programme possible, and the UAE exhibitions remain available for institutions that also want a face-to-face leg.

Benefits of the physical expo

  • Judge fit in person: a fifteen-minute conversation settles questions a brochure never will
  • Parents and sponsors come along, so budget and destination get decided in the same meeting
  • School groups arrive with a counsellor and a subject route, not at random
  • Presentation slots with open question time, scheduled rather than shouted over a hall
  • Document checks on the day: transcripts, predicted grades and recognition questions settled face to face
  • The Dubai weekend flagship exists so families attend together
  • Every student met in September can be followed up in the online editions in October without another flight

Benefits of the online expo

  • Reach cities no recruitment trip covers, at no extra cost per city
  • Pre-booked one-to-one video appointments against the availability you publish
  • Sessions scheduled in the local time of each market, so students attend at reasonable hours
  • Lower cost per market, and countries selected individually rather than as a package
  • Live group presentations, with recordings offered to registered students where you permit it
  • Every interaction reported: views, downloads, wishlists, bookings and enquiries
  • No stand build, no shipping, no visas for your team

Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bangladesh receive very little direct recruitment attention. A presence there costs little, is remembered, and is only worth taking if you have the capacity to follow up.

Schedule

One week, eight local time zones

Sessions run Thursday and Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday daytime in the local time of each market, which spans UTC+5 in the Maldives to UTC+8 in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. For a team in Europe that is a morning-to-afternoon working window.

Editions

Eight country editions

Each has its own page, its own audience and its own gatekeeping question. Select any of them.

What you take home

Leads with stated intent, not a scanned badge list

Your profile appears only where you chose

Select Malaysia and the Philippines and your programmes are shown to Malaysian and Filipino students, with the credit-transfer and professional-registration information those markets ask for. Students in the other six countries never see a listing you did not want to service.

Appointments across a long window

Eight local schedules spread sessions across a wide window. One representative can cover Singapore in the morning and the Maldives in the afternoon of the same European working day, and the profile's level and subject data lets you route each booking to the right colleague.

Afterwards

One engagement report covers every country you selected: appointments, enquiries, downloads and wishlists for the students who chose to share them. Nothing is passed on about students who did not engage with you.

How participation works

  1. Request information

Tell us the markets and study levels you recruit for. We send the brochure, the formats that fit and pricing for that combination.

  2. Confirm your selection

A written agreement covering fees, formats, deliverables and cancellation. Institutions confirmed early appear in more student wishlists.

  3. Build your profile

Programmes rather than an institutional overview: entry requirements, tuition, scholarships, recognition documents, brochures and video.

  4. Publish availability

Students book one-to-one slots against the times your team can cover, physically or by video.

  5. Meet students

Pre-booked appointments at the stand or on screen, plus scheduled presentations with open question time.

  6. Follow up with data

An engagement report after each edition: appointments, enquiries, downloads and wishlists, for the students who chose to share them.

Participation options

A single market, the full week, or Asia at the end of a longer campaign

Selection follows provision. Credit transfer, pathways and registration routes decide where you should be.

Single-market selection

One or two countries where your provision clearly fits: Malaysia for credit-transfer routes, the Philippines for health sciences, Thailand for pathway programmes, Singapore for specialist postgraduate degrees.

The full Asia week

All eight countries on 28–31 October, one profile, one engagement report. The broadest reach in the programme for a single week of team time, at a cost per market no trip can match.

Asia after India and the Gulf

Close a three-region October campaign with the Asia week, reusing the profile and the team rota already running, and follow up every earlier conversation from the same calendar.

Pricing is supplied on request rather than published, because the combinations of city, country and format vary too widely for one figure to be useful. Ask for the combination you are actually considering.

What happens after you send this

We reply with the exhibitor brochure, a recommendation on which of the eight countries fit your provision, the availability that remains and pricing for that selection. A short call follows to work through time zones, staffing and how your programme entries should present credit transfer, pathways or registration routes for the markets you choose.

If you are unsure whether the smaller markets are worth adding, say so; the answer depends on your follow-up capacity, and we will tell you plainly.

Questions

Exhibiting across Asia: your questions

Which countries are in the Asia Study Expo, and can we choose only some?

Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, all on 28–31 October 2027. Countries are selected individually; your profile and appointments appear only in the markets you take.

How does one week work across eight time zones?

Each country edition is scheduled in its own local time, from UTC+5 in the Maldives to UTC+8 in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Sessions therefore spread across a long window that falls inside the working day for teams in Europe and the UK, and in the evening for teams in Asia and Australia.

Can our profile show credit transfer and articulation routes?

Yes. Programme entries carry entry routes, recognition of prior study and pathway options, which is the information Malaysian diploma holders and Sri Lankan top-up applicants check before booking.

Do we need language pathway provision for Thailand and Indonesia?

It widens the addressable audience considerably. English proficiency is high in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines and more variable in Thailand and Indonesia, where a clearly described pre-sessional or pathway route on your profile earns bookings that a direct-entry-only listing does not.

Can one presentation reach several countries?

Yes. A live group session can be opened to more than one market in the same week where local times align, for example Malaysia and Singapore together. One-to-one appointments remain per student in each market.

Is it worth adding Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives?

They receive very little direct recruitment attention, so a presence is memorable and inexpensive. Add them if you have the capacity to follow up enquiries properly; a listing that goes unanswered does more harm than no listing.

What staff do we need for the Asia week?

One representative per concurrent appointment stream, plus a colleague for group sessions. Because bookings carry level and subject, a health-sciences colleague can take the Philippine appointments while an admissions officer covers Malaysia and Singapore.

What do we receive after the week?

A single engagement report across every country you selected: appointments held, enquiries sent, brochures downloaded and wishlists added, for the students who chose to share that with you.
