Study Business & Management abroad from the Gulf and India: destination shortlist

If you want to study business & management abroad from the Gulf or India, six countries cover most good options: the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Germany and the USA. They differ less on teaching than on cost, entry rules and how long you may stay to work after you graduate.

The short answer: where to study business & management abroad

Start with the qualification, not the country. A business bachelor's is a three or four year commitment. A specialist master's in finance, marketing or management is often one year in the UK and Ireland. An MBA usually asks for several years of work experience before you apply.

Once you know the level, the six destinations sort into three groups. Each group answers a different family question.

Shortest route to a degree. The UK and Ireland run one-year taught master's programmes. That cuts a year of living costs compared with a two-year master's. Both also offer a period of work after graduation.

Longest work rights after study. Canada and Australia give graduates the most time to work. Canada's post-graduation work permit can run up to three years. Australia's Temporary Graduate visa usually runs two to three years, depending on the qualification.

Lowest tuition. Germany's state universities generally charge no tuition for bachelor's and most master's courses. There are exceptions, and business students meet them more often than most. We explain why in the table notes below.

The USA sits apart. It has the widest range of business programmes and the highest spread of costs. Its work route after study is shorter for most business degrees than in Canada or Australia.

At our university meetings, the business question we hear most from parents is not about rankings. It is about what happens in the first year after graduation. That is why the work-rights column in the table matters as much as tuition.

The evidence: six destinations compared

The table sets entry requirements, tuition level, work rights and scholarships side by side. Every work-rights figure comes from the government page linked in the notes. Where a government publishes no tuition figure, we point you to the official fee page rather than quote a number.

Reading the work-rights column

Length is only half the story. Ask what the visa lets you do. Ireland's programme is for finding graduate work and applying for an employment permit. Germany's jobseeker permit lets you take any job while you look for a qualified one.

In the USA, most business degrees fall outside the STEM list. That means 12 months of OPT, not 36. Some business analytics programmes carry a STEM designation, so ask the university directly.

The UK Graduate visa is shorter than it was. GOV.UK sets the length by the date you apply, so check the official Graduate visa page before you plan around it.

Tuition: where we quote a figure and where we do not

The UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and the USA leave fees to each institution. No government page gives one national figure. Business schools within the same university often charge more than other faculties, so always read the course fee page.

Germany is the exception, and DAAD publishes the rules on its study costs page. Note one detail. Continuing education master's programmes may charge fees, and many MBAs sit in that group. Private business schools also charge more.

Scholarships for business students

Government awards are few and competitive. Chevening asks for at least 2,800 hours of work experience after your first degree, which suits MBA and management candidates. The Irish scheme funds one year at master's level or above for applicants from outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

For most students, university awards matter more. Our guide to finding scholarships for international study explains which ones you can plan around.

What to do next

Pick two or three countries. Use the table to rule out destinations that fail on budget or work rights. Then read our destination guides for the UK, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Check the programme, not just the school. Business titles hide big differences. Ask about the share of finance, analytics and live company projects. Ask whether a placement year or internship is part of the degree.

Ask about outcomes. Ask each university where its business graduates from your country work a year later. A named employer list is a real answer. A general claim is not.

Meet the universities. At World Study Expo you can meet universities that offer business and management programmes and book one-to-one admissions meetings in advance. Registration is free for students and parents. Our list of questions to ask university representatives helps you use each meeting well.

This article is general guidance for prospective students, not immigration, financial or legal advice. Entry rules, fees, scholarships and work rights change; check the official government and university pages before acting.

Meet Business Schools at World Study Expo

Frequently asked questions

What are the basics of studying Business & Management abroad?

Choose the qualification first: a bachelor's, a specialist master's or an MBA, which usually expects work experience. Then compare destinations on entry rules, total cost and the route to work after graduation. Confirm every rule on the official government page, because visa and work conditions change more often than course content does.

Where does the data come from?

Every visa name, work-rights length and scholarship detail here comes from an official page. The sources are GOV.UK, Canada.ca, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Australia's Department of Home Affairs, DAAD, Irish Immigration Service Delivery and the Higher Education Authority. Where no official fee figure exists, we link the fee page instead of quoting a number.

What is the next step?

Shortlist two or three destinations from the table, then register free for World Study Expo and book one-to-one meetings with universities that offer business and management programmes. Bring transcripts and test scores, ask each university for its fee page and scholarship terms, and compare the answers side by side afterwards.
